RFID RC522 Reader with Card/Key Fob Set
ControlSet of a reader module that reads 13.56 MHz RFID cards and key fobs from a few centimetres away, plus a white card and a key fob; for card door locks, attendance and identification projects. It connects to the Arduino over SPI, and the MFRC522 library reads each card's unique number (UID). The module runs on 3.3V: never connect VCC to 5V. The pin headers usually come unsoldered. Since a UID can be copied, do not rely on it alone where real security matters.

Projects with this part
RFID Card Door LockIntermediate60 minA door lock that opens with a card or key fob you have introduced: the RC522 reader reads the card's number, and if it is known the green LED lights up, a short beep sounds and the servo turns the latch and opens the door for 5 seconds; an unknown card lights the red LED and sounds a long beep. The first card you scan becomes the master card: scanning it opens adding mode for 10 seconds, and a new card scanned meanwhile is added, a known one removed. The cards are kept in the Arduino's EEPROM memory, so they are not forgotten when the power goes. It teaches talking to a module over SPI, comparing card numbers, keeping a small list in EEPROM, and letting a mode close by itself. Install "MFRC522" from the Library Manager; Servo and EEPROM come with the Arduino IDE. This is a learning project; do not use it as a real door's only lock.Open project
RFID Attendance (ESP32 + LCD)Intermediate40 minThe name of whoever scans their card appears on the LCD and is logged as "in" or "out"; the screen counts how many people are inside. For a club, class or workshop register: it shows the number of a card it does not know, and you add that number with a name to the list in the code. No breadboard needed; the RC522 and the LCD connect straight to the ESP32 with female-female wires.Open project
